How To Beat Muscle Spasms Naturally

Muscle spasms are characterized by the involuntary contraction of one or more muscles in the body. Some people may experience a “twitching” feeling when the muscle suddenly shakes, while others may experience a stiff cramping sensation that locks up parts of their body. The good news is that chiropractic care can oftentimes beat common muscle spasms.

Muscle spasms are more than just an annoyance, they can also be quite painful. The constant restricting   motion causes pain and discomfort if left untreated. Mild dehydration may not cause any serious health problems, but you may experience muscle spasms from prolonged dehydration. So, how much water should you drink? There’s no easy answer to this question, as it depends on a number of different factors. At the bare minimum, though, you should consume at least eight, 8-ounce glasses of water each day.

It’s important to note that muscle spasms can occur practically anywhere in the body. With that said, they are most common in the arms, legs, neck and back. These areas contain the largest concentration of muscles, so it’s only natural for spasms to occur more frequently here.

Placing an ice pack on the muscle spasm might offer some temporary relief. The sudden cold sensation may help to slow down the twitching sensation. After leaving the ice pack on for 5 minutes, remove it from your skin. If you are experiencing pain from it, taking an over-the-counter ibuprofen could also help. These are only temporary solutions, however, that will mask some of the pain and discomfort.

In order to treat the root cause of the muscle spasm, you should seek the professional guidance of a chiropractor. They will be able to closely examine your condition to determine the best course of treatment. A series of joint and/or soft tissue manipulations could work out tension or abnormalities triggering spasms.
