Deep Tissue Massage
The University of Maryland Medical Center reports that deep-tissue massage is more effective and affordable for relieving chronic pain than conventional medical remedies. Because deep-tissue massage increases the flow of blood through through the body, it helps reduce the inflammation that causes pain. Deep-tissue massage can also help alleviate muscle tension that is often a side effect of chronic pain by loosening the tight tissue clusters.
Neuromuscular Massage Therapy (NMT)
Neuromuscular Therapy is a very specialized form of manual therapy. Neuromuscular therapy is a series of techniques that involve the release (relaxation) of deep muscle tissue. It is used to locate and release spasms and contractions in the tissues, eliminate trigger points that cause referred pain, restore flexibility to the tissues and rebuild the strength of injured tissues.
NMT works within the unique pain tolerance level of each client. Each session is tailored to you! Education is provided with each treatment, informing clients of what may be experienced directly after treatment and the days to follow. Each client is provided with their own individualized care tips to facilitate the speed of their recovery and, in general, promote their overall health.
Neuromuscular Therapy has been found to aid with the following:
- Headaches neck stiffness
- carpal tunnel syndrome
- upper and mid-back pain
- shoulder pain
- rotator cuff injury
- TMJ dysfunction and pain
- arm and hand pain
- leg and foot pain
- sports injuries.
Thai massage is basically an assisted relaxing yoga session where therapists manipulates your body and applies gentle pressure to your muscles. Thai massages usually take place on a big cozy floor mat, you can wear stretchable or loose clothing so your body can easily move around.
A session can lasts up to 90 minutes and just like yoga, your breathing is very important since it will aid you through each pose.
If you are worried about pressure pain, Thai therapist are trained to use both soft to hard pressure. They will guide you through various poses working the ten different energy lines that are said to treat different organs on these energy meridians.
Because of this, Thai massages helps to balance your qi (energy), which in turn can promote healing. Unlike other massages where you lie face up and or face down position, the different poses in Thai massage force fresh circulation to specific areas of your body, helping with lymphatic drainage and the return of blood to the heart and digestion.
Although you’ll be moving around, Thai massages are really quite relaxing since they return your body to a Zen-like state. At the end of your session, you will feel extremely calm and relaxed and ready to conquer the world. You may even notice on day two or three how loose your once tight muscles and stiff joints still feel.
